Basic Pale Ale

Basic Pale Ale is characterized by American-variety hops used to produce high hop bitterness, flavor and aroma. This bold hop flavor balances out with smooth low to medium maltiness. Good pale ale starts with light extract or pale malt and crystal malt for color and sweetness.”

5 Gallon yield, malt extract recipe

 

Ingredients:

 

3 Pounds Golden DME

3 Pounds Amber DME

1 oz. Cascade hop pellets for bittering (AA=6-7%) 60 Minutes

1 oz. Cascade hop pellets for flavor                          15 Minutes

1 oz. Cascade hop pellets for  aroma                         1 Minute

 

Us 05 Ale Yeast

 

 

Instructions:

 

Heat 2-2.5 gallons to a boil.   Turn off heat and stir in the malt extracts until completely dissolved.    Return to a boil, set a timer for 60 minutes, and add the first ounce of Cascade hops. Add 1 More ounce of Cascade hops for  fifteen minutes.  Add 1 More ounce of hops at the last minute of the boil.  . After boiling, cool to 70-80 degrees or less and top up with water to just over 5 gallons before pitching the yeast. Aerate well and ferment at 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit.
