Corona Type Lager

Corona Type Lager is a  pale lager with no head or residual carbonation. Scent is kind of interesting citrus malt. Taste is combination of pale malt, light tin properties, very mild citrus, and sort of dry apple rind. Good lager.

5 Gallon yield, extract recipe

4 lbs. Pale Malt Extract

1 lb. corn sugar

2 oz. whole leaf Hallertau hops @ 2.8%AA

¼ lb. Pilsen malt

¼ lb. Vienna malt

¼ lb. Wheat malt

Czech Lager Yeast (WLP802)

Heat 3 gallons of (preferably soft) water to 170 degrees Fahrenheit, turn off heat. Steep the crushed grains for 10 to 15 minutes, then discard and bring the grain tea to a boil. Turn the heat off again and stir in the malt extract and the corn sugar until completely dissolved. Bring back to a boil, add one and a half ounces of the Hallertau hops and boil for 45 minutes. Add ½ Tbs. Irish Moss and boil for ten more minutes. Add the final ½ ounce of Hallertau hops, boil five more minutes, then turn off the heat and chill the wort to 70 degrees before pitching the yeast. Wait until the first signs of fermentation appear, then put the fermenter in a fridge set to 50 degrees Fahrenheit for primary fermentation (7-10 days, until krausen starts to drop). Rack to a secondary fermenter and allow another 7-10 days at 50 degrees before bottling. Store the bottles for two weeks at 58-60 degrees, then drop the temperature to 30 degrees for a month before drinking.
