Sagebrush Pale Ale

Sagebrush Pale Ale is a classic American Pale Ale with a twist — a healthy dose of locally wild-crafted coastal sagebrush infuses the beer with the flavor of a hike in San Diego’s back country. 5.6% ABV

5 gallons extract

Ingredients:

7.5 lbs LME

12 oz. Crystal/Caramel 20L

1 Pound White Wheat

0.8 oz Galena (Bittering) 60 Minute (Bittering Addition)

4 grams Artemesia Californica 15 Minute Addition (Flavor addition)

2 oz Centennial (Dry Hop) (Aroma Addition)

WLP001 California Ale yeast

Instructions:

Heat 2-3 gallons of water to 160° F. Turn off heat and (using a muslin or nylon bag) steep the Malt for 15-20 minutes, then remove the grains and bring the liquid to a boil. Turn off heat and stir in the malt extract until completely dissolved. Return to a boil, set a timer for 60 minutes, and add the 0.8 ounces of Galena hops. After boiling, cool to 80 degrees or less and top up with water to just over 5 gallons before pitching the yeast. Aerate well and ferment at 68-72 degrees Fahrenheit. Dry hop with 2 ounces Centennial hops for 5-12 days once fermentation has slowed down
